Michael Cho started his career dead-set on being a painter. After graduating from art school, he turned his attention to illustration just to pay the bills, but soon found the medium artistically satisfying in its own right. He decided to get good at it — and the decision paid off.
Cho has painted covers for Penguin and Random house, and his illustration client list includes The New York Times Book Review, Entertainment Weekly, and the New Yorker. In 2012, he published a visual love letter to Toronto with Back Alleys and Urban Landscapes (Drawn and Quarterly).
In comics, he’s done covers for Marvel and DC, and his first graphic novel, Shoplifter, was published by Pantheon and debuted on the New York Times Bestseller List. Cho lives in Toronto with his wife, children's book creator Claudia Davila, and their two children.
